• Maou is convinced that he tin eventually have over Nihon (and mayhap the earth) past working his fashion upwards through the ranks of MgRonalds. He becomes obsessed with existence the best employee he tin can, to the point that he seriously considered using some of his very limited remaining magic in the showtime episode when the fry cooker broke.
  • Becomes interesting in one case you find out that this was exactly how he rose to the top in the demon hierarchy. And when you consider that he'due south very patient and immortal, the programme suddenly isn't unfeasible at all.
• Calling their (old and cheap) bike a Dullahan. This is done insistently and in the manner 1 would apply for a mighty noble steed or air fortress.
• Everyone interim like Maou and Emi are in a relationship. Maou is pretty indifferent to the idea, but the comedy comes from Emi'south reactions. She always has very extreme reactions.
• Emi and Chiho's many faces.

• When one of the characters from Ente Isla gets passionate and yells, Maou (when it's not him) usually points out they are in public and then we get a beat of people staring at them.
• A lot of funny moments involve ii characters talking over a 3rd graphic symbol talking near something less of import. Information technology becomes a job reading the subs.
• Emi tripping on the staircase when leaving Maou's apartment. A floor layout in volume two even labels them as "Emi'southward thirteen Steps of Hell", and she remarks that they Take to be cursed.

    Episode 1

• It starts with a badass beginning, and Maou flees with his right paw man, he declares his intent to come back - and lands in Japan of all places.
• Ashiya's attempts to use magic always fail. The first time he tries with the police that he and Maou encounter, attempting to nail them, only for cypher to happen every bit a police officeholder and Maou sentinel silently; next scene he is in the police car with Maou. He tries again after leaving the police force, and calls a taxi.

  Ashiya attempts to invoke a powerful magic attack, pointing his hand at the sky and yelling.
  A cab silently pulls upwardly and opens its door.

  Ashiya: My lord, what merely happened?

  • In the dub, Ashiya assumes that the cab was summoned by his spell. Maou doesn't purchase it.
• Then Maou getting data out of the police officeholder talking to him by using hypnosis, and then going to find Ashiya. Who is eating Katsudon. They all but stare at each other, bare-faced, Ashiya with Katsudon in his mouth.
• Maou trying to utilize Japanese, which is very broken. As Ashiya congratulates Maou, they have a very dramatic sounding talk in their demon linguistic communication.
• Maou considers trying to survive on fast food till his next paycheck, which causes Ashiya to break down, asking if this is Supersize Me.
• Maou taking his job at MgRonalds way more seriously than the DEMON Rex should.
• "Is it ... human?"
  • Even funnier when Miki-T reveals she knows near Enta Isla and who the characters are. Therefore she might not exist human.
  • "It spoke!"

    Episode ii

• At the start, Emilia pulls out a pocketknife and Maou immediately asks her if she bought information technology at the crappy 100 yen store. Emi's flustered response pretty much confirms it.
• When Emilia comes to Maou's business firm to face him, Ashiya locks her out. Every bit he and Maou explain the situation, you can hear Emilia yelling outside, banging on the walls and the door, threatening to break in, pretending to leave, and she eventually breaks downward into sobbing.
• When Emilia rings the doorbell and tells Ashiya who she is, she tells him to "Open the door and have your judgement like a man." Cue Ashiya locking the door, hooking upward the security chain, and then freaking out. Not very manly, but hilarious yet.
• Emi makes fun of Maou's alias proper noun Sadao, resulting in this line:

  Maou: You lot Need TO APOLOGIZE TO ALL THE SADAOS FOR THAT Fissure!

• This substitution:

  (Emilia is in MgRonalds, staring angrily at Mao. Cheerful music is playing on the MgRonald'due south speakers.)
  (Maou maintains a cheerful smile despite Emilia's aroused expression.)
  Maou: Welcome.
  Emi: May I take a moment?
  Maou: Are you set up to order some food, Miss?
  Emi: I need to speak with you lot exterior.
  Maou: "To Go" gild, then.

• Emi and Ashiya stalk Maou and Chiho, who are on a date. This would exist funny plenty, but when Emi starts listing what Chiho has done to prepare for the engagement, we become this gem.

  Emi: Her clothes is screaming "I'thousand immature and available", and the course-fitting cutting is there to emphasize her- damn, those are huge!

• When Ashiya asks what she meant, she goes on a rant most how smaller ones mean cheaper armor and don't get in the mode.
• Afterwards Ashiya and Maou observe that Emi returned the cardinal, Ashiya mentions how heroic that was. So Maou asks him what he would have washed with information technology, and Ashiya responds he would keep information technology, leading to this:

  Maou: That's demonic.
  Ashiya: Well, I am a demon. What well-nigh information technology?

• While going clothes shopping for the engagement:

  Ashiya: I cannot permit yous to become on a date wearing Unislo from head to toe.
  Maou: Y-you footling ... Repent to the world's #1 apparel chain and to me for that.

• The fact that Maou and Ashiya listed Emi equally their guarantor but because they tin can pisses Emi off. It too turns out that Emi faked her age just the existent reason she's pissed off is because they apparently did it to crusade problem for her.

• Emi complaining well-nigh how Maou is not acting like a villain should — living in poverty/working at a low paying job, being dainty to people, going on dates with loftier school girls. He and then remarks that The Terminal of These Is Not Like the Others.
• After Maou saves everyone from the "convulsion", Ashiya keeps apologizing for being a burden and having to get saved and grabs onto Maou'south leg while crying on the flooring. When they got home, he was scratching at the door and still begging for forgiveness, ◊ until he tired himself out.

  "Don't cling to me! It'south creepy! Cut it out!"

  • The pair are stopped by a cop admonishing them for practicing stage lines in public, while tearfully telling them to continue pursuing that dream.

    Episode 5

• Maou chews Olba for having a cheesy line and that B-Movies are mode better aside from calling him a baldy. Olba is ticked and in that anger, he asks Maou what's a B-Movie.
• Emi deflecting a magic bullet, just for it to bounciness off her gauntlet and smack Maou right in the face while he's holding up the falling bridge.
• Ashiya showing upward late to the fight because he went back home to get his cape.
• And then it has Maou chewing Lucifer out for possibly making him belatedly for work and missing out on his perfect omnipresence bonus pay.
• Emi's companions limit the Idea Link to those who were constantly thinking of Maou. This includes Chiho, who blushes at the revelation and screams in shock when Maou and Ashiya get back to the flat, causing them to scream likewise.
• Ashiya'due south dying words (if he died) is telling Maou to save money.
• Ashiya being more pissed off that Maou was spending money to sentry movies, instead of the fact Lucifer had betrayed them.
• Maou decides not to go back to his world, as he has a lot of shifts this calendar month.
• Ashiya knocks Olba into a wall by throwing cars at him. Olba and so chastises Emi for working with a demon...only for anybody to call him out for working with Match.

  Emi: ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!
  Lucifer: What'south that supposed to hateful?!
  Maou: Like you're one to talk, Baldy!

  • Just the fact that even Match calls him out on it.
  • Likewise worth noting that all three of these statements are said at once.
• Lucifer's face ◊ after the Megaton Dial.
  • And the fact that Friction match acts like such a Smug Serpent, but as soon as Maou flash steps into his face up, he's then scared he looks as if he's near to crap his pants. The scene in question. ◊
  • And to cap the episode off, Lucifer reveals his nearly nefarious act - looking inside Emi's wallet without request permission.
  • Maou and Ashiya even express their disgust for this.
  • The punch in question. Maou forms some Instant Runes behind his fist to heighten his punch. Then another circumvolve. So a few more than. And fifty-fifty more. Twenty-six, to be exact. Then the screen has to eventually pan out only to keep showing more of them, until there's hundreds.

    Episode six

• Outset Lucifer is now living with Maou and Ashiya, and he is a NEET. He proves that he has gone native like Maou and Ashiya past hacking into Emi'southward calculator at work. Emi'due south and Lucifer's faces when he does that is hilarious.
• What's a power then great it was able to knock out Lucifer, Satan, and Alciel?... A photo of Miki in a swimsuit. The audience gets to run across the lower-half.
  • Which Ashiya later tries to use as a weapon.
• When Maou chides the others for being defeated by a photo, Lucifer dares him to look and Maou desperately tries to modify the subject.

  Maou: Really, guys? What kind of demons freak out over a simple picture?
  Urushihara: FINE! You look at information technology, then!
  Maou: [after deciding non to look at the landlady's photo] Plenty of this swimsuit business. Have you gathered info on this earth'southward magic?
  Urushihara: Dude! No off-white!

• The entire plot of the episode was Friction match tricking them into getting his Pasta(Vita) back for him. Their faces when they find out is golden.
• Maou being completely oblivious to Chiho'southward feelings; fifty-fifty Ashiya looks amazed past this.
• Emi chasing the group after they ditch her. They hibernate in the storage room, where Emi enters and attacks an anatomy model, with her sword.

  Ashiya: Dauntless Emilia: the only hero in the history of the universe ever to slice upwards an anatomical model with a sacred sword.
  Maou: Makes me question how well she'd do against an actual opponent.

• Maou giving his barbecued meat a Breaking Spoken communication.
• Maou is afraid of haunted emails that'll take you to hell and freaks out when Lucifer calls him at that verbal moment.
  • A Demon King who is afraid of being sent to HELL? And relaxing when he realizes the person on the other terminate of the line is Lucifer, a Demon? Information technology makes you wonder who would exist on the other finish of the line if the phone call was actually meant to accept Maou to hell.

    Episode vii

• Begins with Maou'south expression when he takes the box of Udon from Suzuno and finding it MUCH heavier than it looks, especially when Suzuno, who is a head shorter than him, lifts it upwards with no problem.
• Information technology is so quickly followed past Maou'due south and Ashiya's reaction as Suzuno tries to pull out the letter she got with the same photo from concluding episode. In tedious motion.
• Emi finally realizing that she looks similar someone whose stalking Ashiya and Maou.
• Emi falling downward the stairs. Twice.
  • The outset time Maou catches her in a Conjugal Carry, causing her to freak out and attack him... making him drop her on her head.
  • She catches herself the second fourth dimension though.
• Chiho'south reaction to the passenger vehicle bento Maou gets from Suzuno.
  • Which just escalates when she sees the heart design on top of the rice.
  • And the finish of the episode has Chiho calling Emi in a panic over it - finding out what "Mr. Maou" had done elicits a Flat "What" in the dub.
• The masked assailant who attacks Emi near the end of the episode. When they first meet, he rushes at her...simply to then slam into the glass door of the convenience shop.
  • In the fight that gain from in that location, the attacker uses some mystery moves that manages to give him a huge reward over Emi, and he somewhen was able to pin her downwardly... simply to be ambushed by the the convenience store clerk, who is armed with... paintballs. Which managed to cause him to go upwardly and utterly flee the scene.
  • Made even funnier when the identity of the masked man is revealed: it's Sariel. That's right, the archangel Sariel barbarous for a closed glass door and so was chased off past paintballs.
• Maou introducing Urushihara to Suzuno. Especially for those who know Japanese, since it either is or highly resembles Boke and Tsukkomi Routine (just without the paper fan).

• Fifty-fifty funnier was Urushihara's attempt at a Lame Comeback.

  Urushihara: Well, that'due south not my choice, is information technology?!
  Maou: And why is that exactly?
  Uruushihara: 'Crusade... you... close up.

• "Holy Vitamin B".
  • Information technology's "Holy Vitamin Beta."
• Suzuno didactics Urushihara how to clean and cook when Ashiya falls ill. Of course, the fallen affections can't aid merely throw in some snide remarks.

  Suzuno: Continue. Grate some ginger. Surely yous can handle a simple grater.
  Urushihara: Don't call me Shirley.

    Episode 8

• Chiho's reaction when she's greeted by Suzuno in Maou'south flat.
• Wasn't in that location some fried chicken?
• Suzuno's reaction to technology. ◊
• Also the identical looks on Urushihara, Emi and Ashiya's faces when Maou suggested that Suzuno piece of work at MgRonalds.
  • Urushihara also silently snarks in the background.
• Suzuno copying Emi in spilling the creamer, and even giving a modest fist pump when she does information technology.

  Ashiya: Organic. It means grown with natural pesticides.
  Maou: Naturally pestilent ogres, huh?

• Maou giving Ashiya permission to smack Urushihara if he complains about the food.
• During the visit to MgRonald'due south:

  Rika: Look, I'k gonna exist straight with you. I wanna see y'all piece of work your magic. So get to information technology!
  Maou: Yous take serious daddy issues, don't you?

    Episode 10

• Emi's reaction to Chiho's assets followed by Suzuno'southward first "swimsuit." Made fifty-fifty ameliorate considering the sight of them is accompanied by bass drums.
  • Particularly since it'south intercut with a scene of Maou preparing a pair of Big Mags.
  • And then when Emi looks dorsum at her small breast, we cut to Maou serving a pair of pocket-sized burgers.

• When both Emi and Chiho express their dislikes for reptiles, their respective imagine spots are hilariously different - Chiho was freaked out by a pocket-sized, normal cadger while Emi was desperately trying to concur off in gainsay confronting a basilisk (note the petrified warriors).
  • Also, Suzuno'southward description of lizard dishes which she tried during her time in the South in Ente Isla.
• Urushihara going on an online shopping spree while Ashiya was confined to the toilet after a bad example of food poisoning.
• Sadao feeling uncomfortable at the comments everyone gave about Sadao the monkey, much to Emi'southward amusement.
• Urushihara tries to get his packet simply gets a leg balk.
• And the subsequent exchange when Maou receives the bundle instead of Urushihara:

  Ashiya: Jungle...
  Urushihara: Uh, you lot see... this is...
  (Ashiya approaching Urushihara closer and closer while the latter begins to murmur "too shut" repeatedly)
  Ashiya: What the hell is this? Merely go alee and say it. What did you practise while I was living in the toile-
  (Ashiya turns stake every bit his breadbasket acts up again, and the next scene cuts directly to him in the toilet)

• Chiho trying to show off her bathing suit to Maou and getting annoyed at him not paying attending.
  • It gets so bad that Emi gets annoyed on Chiho'southward behalf.

    Episode 11

• Ashiya is still ill.
• Urushihara tries to snark at Emi, who was looking at a large bikini summit:

  Urushihara: There'd be room to fit two of... (gets hit with a doll)
  Emi: SHUT Upward, NEET!!

• Urushihara explodes in anger at non getting a decent cup of guava juice.

  Emi: Y'all could simply drink some water.
  Chiho: Or y'all can use a Sugiya saucepan.
  Urushihara: DAMMIT! GIMME A BREAK! What is wrong with yous?! WHAT Have I DONE TO DESERVE THIS?! THIS ISN'T FAIR!

• "Being a NEET, I'm not supposed to go outside and all that, and then..."
• In the English dub, Urushira'south comment when they get the letter from Miki-T to sell the stuff she sent.

  Urushira: Ane. Two. 3. Not it.

    Episode 12:

• Ashiya, while in hospital, worrying about whether an 4 baste is covered by the National Health Insurance.
• Maou being more concerned most the fact that the Dullahan is crushed across repair than the fact that Suzuno is attacking him.
• Maou fights the entire climactic battle confronting Sariel in only his boxers considering he doesn't want to damage his MgRonald'south uniform.
  • Or rather he wouldn't be able to pay for the amercement.
  • He actually had an undershirt as well, but the first of Suzuno's attacks got rid of it. After which she accused him of existence indecent.
  • Too, Maou commenting on the reason why his pants don't go destroyed when he transforms.

    Maou: This underwear is made with cut-edge fabric that can handle anything.
    Emi: But how much do you lot trust your damn underwear?

• Emi interrupting Maou's hammy speech to Sariel about his impending doom, causing Maou to end his speech in monotone.
  • And her pause was his error, because he angered her earlier past commenting that her clothes were undone later saving her.
• "Being a NEET is the best!"
• Ashiya is shown returning to his asskicking demon course in the hospital... but he arrives to the scene way too belatedly again subsequently the battle's already finished because he went back home to call up his cape again.
  • And he gets told that he needn't even bother if he was going to be and then late.
  • And then he breaks down and cries.
• At one point Urushihara takes some nutrient (which Suzuno made) from the refrigerator, smells it, and comments that it "reeks of divine power, but food is food" as if proverb "Yes it'southward poisonous, simply food is food". In the dub, he takes a whiff, and goes "reeks of divine power, but hey, YOLO."
• Chiho and Emi calling Sariel a pervert multiple times. He then gets angry at the Panty Thief annotate and vehemently exclaims "I DIDN'T DO THAT" with Dramatic Thunder in the background.
• Urushihara wanting Emi'southward purse back, because he believes she would kill him if he didn't give it dorsum.
• Maou catches Emi in another Conjugal Comport after she's flung off the building during the fight, resulting in this commutation from the dub.
  • When he points out her shirt's open, she gets a Luminescent Blush and quietly closes it back upward. He does, however, have a palm-shaped imprint on his cheek shortly afterwards.
• Maou calls Emi apartment later she dismisses his rescue of her and equally always she'due south furious at this. Suzuno tries to change the topic, then she becomes a target of Emi's wrath. And then Maou remembers his uniform and freaks out because he's missed out on work.
• Maou revealing that he's been enlightened the Suzuno was from Ente Isla the entire time.

  Maou: A sweet young girl moves adjacent door to an all-male household, wiggles her fashion in and starts cooking and doting on them? That just doesn't happen!
  (cut to Urushihara at habitation)
  Urushihara: We nonetheless have some leftovers from Suzuno. It seems a little Angelic Strength-y only hey, YOLO.

• And Ashiya recovered, arriving to assistance... late, again, because he had to go fetch his greatcoat get-go.
• Sariel's Final Speech communication at the end of his fight with Maou. In the original, he begs God to relieve him. In the dub, he asks God's forgiveness for being "such a complete and utter tool."

    Episode 13

• In Emi's dream, she dreams that Maou has regained his powers and taken over Hatagaya. He then states he'll take over Greenland.
  • Beyond the random factor, the affair that makes this joke even funnier is that Maou was in danger of being sent to Greenland if he lost that fast nutrient battle against the SFC.
• Ashiya chiding Urushihara for planting a tracking device on Suzuno, not considering he respects her privacy, but because he'southward worried near the cost of the device!
• Maou chucks Sariel into the Gate and he winds up in the MgRonalds freezer.
  • The casual way he throws Sariel simply makes it funnier.
• Mitsuki falling for Mayumi and creeping her out with his usual antics.
• Urushihara snarking at jealous Chiho, simply for her to tell him to shut upwardly.
• Maou's reaction to discovering Urushihara fell for a purchasing scam.
  • Also, Urushihara'south pathetic attempt at hiding the boxes.
  • The very fact that it was Urushihara (you know, Friction match, a demon) who got scammed is funny in itself.
  • When Ashiya finds out he's working for the scam company, he angsts over what he'due south done. Emi reminds him he was a demon full general.
• Later on they got out of the scam, Maou'south face at the guy who tried to scam them is hilarious.
  • Maou then wonders if he can convert Emi (subsequently helping them) to his side.
• "Two khatsu-dum please!"

    Maou's resume

• He (and Ashiya) both face the wrong side in their photos.
• He has a lot of suprisingly official-sounding qualifications, ranging from "Level 1 Architect (Demon Realm)", to "Dullahan Chariot Driver'southward License (Standard)" to "Certified Demonic Accountant License," and "Consultant (Small- to Mid-level Imp Hordes)".
• Ashiya listed himself as Maou's guardian.
• Notably, unlike Emi and Ashiya, his simply personal goal is that he wants to eat better.

    Emi'southward resume

• Her Date of Birth is listed as "Fall". Maou just tells her to retrieve of something, despite himself having just written "Never thought about it".
• Nether "Skills and Hobbies" she wrote Devil King Destroying.

• He misspells many words.
• Ashiya is shocked to find out he has a telephone number.
• Gets called a NEET. Thrice, past his fellow Ente Isla natives. And the worst one time by Chiho.
• His guardian's proper noun is "Maou Sadao". Below it is a "I officially protestation" comment from Maou himself.
• His birth date is rather amusing besides. Especially since he should take had a faux nativity engagement that he could utilize here.

    Volume 0

• Olba's plan to terminate a horde of behemothic lizards from destroying a city: concur a giant BBQ party! There'south a expert reason for this, of course ^note the Dragonicks interpret the smell of them being grilled as danger, and then by grilling sufficient corporeality of them that the odour volition encompass the entire city, it'll convince the other Dragonicks to avoid the urban center, but seeing Emilia being exasperated by this (since she's involved in the mass killing and grilling operation), then scarred by the experience, is quite hilarious.
